Hey there, my name is Johnny Cox! I’m a Guatemalan American dancer, actor, singer, and choreographer based in Oakland, California.
As a bi-literate (Spanish + English) gay identifying performing artist, I am on a mission to fearlessly share my skills in inclusive professional and artistic environments. Some of my career and training highlights include:
• 14+ years of formal training in modern, ballet, and contemporary dance.
• Earned a BFA in Dance from UC Santa Barbara (2019).
• Extensive training with Bay Area acting teacher Marvin Greene.
• Dance teaching mentorship experience with young kids and seniors.
• Professional dance experience with Bay Area choreographers Lenora Lee, Nancy Karp, and Chingchi Yu.
• Skilled at solo dance improvisation performance exploring themes such as gender as performance, love, and spirituality as a source of inner strength.
• Upper Baritone and soloist with the Oakland Gay Men’s Chorus, actively growing my abilities with vocal lessons in 2026.
• I am currently training in Belly Dance with Suhaila Salimpour and have recent training in Reggaeton dance with Sarah Templeton. Shoutout to these beloved Bay Area teachers!
